My name is Daniel Cook and I serve as the Director of Bands at Ithaca College and the Region Coordinator and Conductor for the Northeast Region Musicians Abroad program. Please allow me a moment of your time to inform you of a very special experience that will be offered in 2025 for students in grades 9-12, and graduated seniors, who are currently enrolled in band across our region.

Musicians Abroad provides an opportunity for band students to travel and perform throughout Europe. Over a two-week period, students will rehearse, tour and perform in picturesque locations and performance venues that are iconic to music history. Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and Prague are among the locations where students will visit and perform. An incredible staff of music educators from across our region will work with the ensembles throughout the nomination process, serving as section coaches at our Pre-Tour Camp and accompanying them on the tour, July 5 - July 19, 2025.

The concept of these tours has been running for decades and has produced hundreds of trips. Other states and regions travel biannually with hundreds of eager students in their entourage, accompanied by dozens of staff members. This all-Northeast venture is a newer endeavor. The Musicians Abroad program is a division of Music Travel Consultants.

The nomination process is now open for any student who you believe would be worthy of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Once nominated, students receive a personalized invitation packet from Musicians Abroad with a congratulatory letter and additional information about the tour. Students and parents are invited to attend one of several informational meetings that will occur later this spring. Simply being nominated for this opportunity is a thrill for many students and parents. Upon receiving the packet explaining the program, the student and their parent will attend one of our meetings across the region to hear details about the program and financial obligations. Musicians Abroad will send reminders to students and parents regarding the upcoming informational meetings, as well. Please don’t worry about finances when considering your student nominations. We will discuss financial opportunites at the informational meeting where many students realize they are able to participate.

We encourage you to nominate your students at the button below:

Nominate Your Students

You are welcome to nominate as many students as you would like! We simply ask that you consider each student’s character, maturity and musicianship as the criteria for nomination. When nominating your students, please complete your information so it will auto-populate for every subsequent nomination. The first step is to simply recognize your students for their work in your program and present to them this world-class opportunity. If you have more than 10 students, feel free to upload their information via the spreadsheet link found on the website.
