Bayou 2026 – Placement Audition Instructions
Create a digital audio file recording (mp3) of the following:
- Select one short excerpt that demonstrates your abilities. Your excerpt should be from an All-State audition piece or from a major solo work.
- A chromatic scale from your lowest to highest comfortable range, at a steady, comfortable tempo. Legato tongue ascending and slur descending.
NOTE: Percussionists need to prepare only #1 above on SNARE and a short MALLET piece.
Email the audio file with your name and school at the beginning of the recording. Please indicate Bayou and Instrument in the memo line (Ex. Jane Doe, Bayou Tour, Bayou High, Clarinet) and send to to bababineaux@lpssonline.com.

The main purpose of this audition is to help us assign parts. Please record in your home or school band room without pressure. We simply need an accurate representation of your ability for part placement. Parts will be assigned early April.
Special Instructions:
Saxophone – Please indicate the specific saxophone you plan to play during our trip.
Flutes – if you are interested in playing piccolo, please indicate this on your recording.
