Your Stage Awaits: Audition for the 2027 National Honor Band & Choir

Imagine your music echoing through grand European concert halls, performing on historic stages alongside the very best high school musicians from across the nation. In 2027, the Musicians Abroad National Honor Band & Choir, in collaboration with Music for All, will unite these elite ensembles of student performers for a once-in-a-lifetime international tour.

Performances are planned in prestigious venues across Munich, Vienna, Bratislava and Prague. Before departure, students and faculty will gather for a multi-day rehearsal workshop, receiving top-tier instruction while building connections with fellow ensemble members. It’s a chance to join a community of outstanding young musicians, perform at the highest level, explore Europe’s rich culture and create friendships and memories that will last forever.

Auditions Open December 1, 2025

Students must audition to be selected for the ensemble. Auditions will include scale requirements and excerpts showcasing technique and range. Each submission will be reviewed by a Musicians Abroad staff member who will provide personalized feedback.

A letter of recommendation from your music director or private lesson instructor is also required. Students may re-submit auditions to demonstrate improvement before the final deadline.

Those selected will participate in a Pre-Tour Rehearsal Camp in July 2027, culminating with a Bon Voyage Concert before the group departs for Europe.

Common Questions

  • How do I become a member of the ensemble?
    By audition and recommendation.

  • Where will rehearsals be held?
At Pre-Tour Camp, July 9–11, 2027, in the gateway departure city (location announced December 2025).

  • How Much does the tour cost?
Land package costs will be available shortly after the audition open date of December 1, 2025. • What’s included in the travel package?
Housing and meals at Pre-Tour Camp, two meals per day abroad, concert arrangements, hotels with private bath, sightseeing, motor coach transportation, Tour Directors and more.

  • Can family travel too?
Yes! Adults may join the side-by-side Family and Friends Tour. Younger children (under 15) may travel with a parent or guardian.

Chaperone Opportunities

Musicians Abroad will provide a Lead Chaperone for the ensembles, and parents of student performers may apply for additional chaperone positions. Chaperones travel with the student group and receive a discounted Family and Friends rate. Applications will be available online in early spring 2026.

Professional Development for Directors

Current and future instrumental and choral music educators are invited to participate in the Director Professional Development Track. Participants will accompany the tour while receiving hands-on educational sessions alongside the international travel and music-making experience. Interested directors should email support@musiciansabroad.com to receive full details. Registration will be limited and will open in the spring of 2026.
