Bruce Moss began his teaching career at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, where for 11 years he led an exemplary program as Director of Bands and Music Department Chair. Upon completing his doctorate in 1989, he served as Director of Bands at St. Cloud State University and Eastern Illinois University. In 1994 he began his 30 year tenure at Bowling Green State University as Director of Band Activities. Dr. Moss conducted all the university’s wind bands. Regarded as one of the finest adult bands in operation today, the band regularly features appearances by notable guest conductors, soloists and composers from all over the world.
Dr. Moss has served as conductor of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra Concert Band and, on 13 occasions, he coordinated and led the Ohio Ambassadors of Music™ student musicians on concert tours throughout Europe.

He is a past Stanbury Award recipient of the ASBDA North Central Region for the State of Illinois.
A career-long advocate for new wind band music, Dr. Moss has conducted premiere or advance performances of numerous commissioned wind band works of a variety of composers including Samuel Adler, Scott Boerma, Steven Bryant, Mark Camphouse, Michael Colgrass, Thomas Duffy, Ryan Nowlin, Onsby Rose, Robert Sheldon, Philip Sparke, James Stephenson, John Stevens and Chen Yi. As an enthusiastic supporter of school music and music educators, he continues to work frequently in music performance and educational forums across the country.
